The anticipation is crazy!  Here are the Grandmas, awaiting the sight of a new dad who’ll deliver the news.

Welcome, Henry.

Several weeks later…

Henry is filling out, wide-eyed, just a bundle of joy.

Yes, he’s adorable!  Can’t quite get enough of him.

We’re happy beyond words for Henry and his family.  LOVE LOVE LOVE.

There are many things so simply wonderful about newborns…

like smiling eyes and unexpected expressions…  

like the peace that comes over you watching a resting baby…

the amazement of the tiniest of features, thin eyelash blades and curled fingers…

fuzzy backs and ears…

the comfort of a mother’s hands…

watching the amazement of a big brother…

legs learning to unwind from the fetal position…

perfect little fingernails…

clutching a father’s finger…

and more bonding time for brother & sister…

For his very first pictures, Ethan sported a wise owl hat — so so cute!!

Ethan’s mom was weighed in this scale when she was a baby…how neat is that?!

Big brother Sammy!

The nursery was one of the best decorated I’ve ever seen!  I love it.

Our good friends, John and Leslie, welcomed Kenley just over seven weeks ago!  We were so anxious to meet her.  I was sure she would be already humming songs that her mom made up (her mom is THE BEST at creating songs for anything)…ok ok she’s only seven weeks  A quick rundown of all things wonderful about Kenley…she has a very cool room..  It’s really neat.  She’s fashionable already…she even wore an outfit that totally complemented her crib.  Nice work!  She has bright, beautiful blue eyes with long eyelashes, and she really rocked out her first big photo shoot.  A natural.  She gave us a nice “Dana Carvey as Garth foxy pose” (you’ll see below) which really cracked me up.  Her parents are stellar, and Kenley is going to have some big footsteps to follow.  We observed as she and her dad relaxed together, quietly taking in the sprinkle of rain outside a nearby window.  I can see they’ll be spending lots of bonding time together there.  With her mom, she cuddled warmly and dozed for a quick nap.  She is simply precious in her mom’s arms…I loved seeing the closeness of mother and daughter.  I know they’ll be sharing lots of good laughs together.  And Kenley is lucky to have a pretty cool big brother(?) in Bristol, the dog.  They will entertain each other often and become great friends.  Whew, that’s a lot of wonderful things!  See below for the proof!

We’ve probably said it before, but we love the opportunity to capture new life…it’s so magical, so special, and to see families interacting with their little one is really something.  It’s the fresh and delicate features, the gentle touches, the warming expressions, and the radiating love in the room.  Brendan is a lucky little guy…he has an awesome family…and they certainly feel blessed to have him!

Life is good, eh?

Thank you, Tim and Gwen, for inviting us into your brand new world!  Enjoy every second of it.  You are a wonderful family.

We have the best clients.  I feel like we couldn’t find better ones, even if we pre-screened for it!  The Smiths were no different.  They were really nice and easy to work with.  Even their dog Jill was sweet.  Little Mackenzie, whom they welcomed into the world just a month ago, was calm and wide awake for the majority of the shoot.  We really couldn’t have asked for a better situation for a family shoot.  Have a look and let us know what you think!

Mackenzie’s parents both have a height advantage.  And it looks like she’ll follow along…when she was born, her second footprint (foreground) was made diagonally because the first overstepped the boundary!

Their dog Jill, was keeping a close watch on Jen and I.  But she was a really sweet dog and cuddled up with the family for a few shots.

Her room was done up super cute but also very practical.  They made it easy to adjust as she grows, so they won’t need to paint the room every single year!  smart!

Smiths – Thank you two so much for welcoming us into your home.  Your little girl is incredibly sweet.  We’re working on those actual size cardboard cut-outs with recorded camera clicks in the background.  When you get them, let us know how they work.  Thanks again, you all were awesome!

It’s official.  We have our youngest model ever!  Coming in at just 5 days old.  Going in, we were sure that we’d only get sleeping closed-eye photos.  But Paige opened her eyes, looked around and made great eye contact.  We were really impressed!  She was great to work with and made the session really easy on us.  It only helped that she gets such great looks from her parents, Crystal and Dexter.

There are so many great things about a brand new born to capture in a photo.  All those wrinkles, the tiny-tiny feet and hands, and all that peach fuzz that they lose so quickly.  Those things you never want to forget.  And Paige, at 5 days, still had all of the above.  That’s only one of the many reasons why we enjoyed this shoot so much.
