Camp Kurt & Jen 2010

Whew!  We did it again – a 3rd time!  Camp Kurt & Jen (The Camp of All Camps) was a success…and we are still here to tell about it!  Following previous years 1 and 2 was not easy.  However, looking back at some of those posts, I can’t believe we handled two 3 year olds among the group our first year!!  We’re now well-conditioned, and our nieces and nephews have grown up.  I noticed this year no one needed help opening the sliding door to the backyard.  And the bathroom stool, while convenient, wasn’t a necessity (they can balance on their stomachs to reach the faucet)!  We’re so thankful to steal them away for a few days and pack in all kinds of big fun.

This year’s invite (front of card):

Take note of our super cool t-shirts;)

We opened with a Mexican Fiesta, complete with a pinata and candy innards.  Clearly a hit and something new for this year’s camp!

Tree climbing is always a sport here:)

We found a window between storms…time to gaze up at the beautifully colored sky and to cook up our traditional s’mores.

With candy and s’mores having made the evening, we thought, why not carry on with more chocolate?  Good morning, Double Chocolate Brownie Smiley Face Pancakes!

These were OUTSTANDING!  In fact, we had a few extras, and I just broke from this post to gobble one up!

Following our big breakfast and subsequent showing of Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory (yes, more chocolate), we went on a big hike.  By big, I mean 3.5 miles!  Yep, these kids are troopers.  We really didn’t intend it to be that long…it seems so short on our mountain bikes, which is how we usually cover it.  We felt really bad when one said her legs were on fire:(  Still, they kept motivated with berry picking, frog catching (courtesy of the older boys) and log hopping!

Yes, that’s me, Captain White Legs, there at the end;)

After the hike there was just enough left in the tank for some playground action.  This playground was just awesome.  And they were fearless climbing on it!  Maybe our pep-talk on the hike helped…so proud of them.

Our next big surprise was a trip to Victory Field!  We yellow-shirted campers plopped down in the lawn, devoured hot dogs, popcorn and turned our soda cups into megaphones.  More fun was had rolling around in the grass, than watching the baseball game, and that’s the perk of lawn seats.

And of course, it’s never Camp without a pool!  Here we were, back at the local water park for some splashin’ good fun:)

Until next year!!
