For as long as I can remember, I’ve loved working outside. Manual labor is seen as a bad thing so often, but I love being in the fresh air, using all my strength and completing a job that you can stand back, look at and be proud of. It’s something that I believed was passed down to me, because all the men in my family are that way. Some may think we’re a little crazy in the head, but there’s just something about working with our hands that makes us happy. And I get outside from time to time for different projects on the yard or house, but that doesn’t normally fulfill that need. So, I jumped at the chance to do a little more with my Parish. It was the second annual “Saints in the Streets.” We get together with a few other parishes and clean up some downtown (westside) streets. It’s something that has such a great impact on the city that Mayor Ballard even came to speak to us before we headed out. Jennifer, of course, came along. She shares with me the passion for hard work and getting outside. She can even embarrass me in front of the neighbors because of how hard she works on the yard. But enough of the build up. Here’s some photos we took while we were there. (of course we took a camera… it’s what we do!)

There was a great turn out!

A typical hazard of this work.

The Water Truck (a life saver!).

How can Jen look that cute even when she’s working that hard.

See the rest of the photos from this event here. Thanks for stopping by and have a wonderful day!
